Xmass is coming and I trust a Merry one.

My dear Mother -
I was relieved to hear from you this morning - so thankful - your accident made me broken hearted, and on not hearing from home I imagined that you were probably [[fa?ing]] home. In life there is only one thing that I place before all other wishes and that is that you and Father may have the pleasure of seeing me developed into a fine strong position in the art world here. It is about the only way I can repay you. and I want you to be strong - for it may take time.
