My dear Father

Your remittance was received last week. The two hundred dollars was really to [[too]] much. I have deposited as I told you in my last letter half of the amount.

Yesterday I bought ten window shades. My bed was a great bargain. I am gradually getting settled. and start to work Thursday. I shall only send one small painting to Philadelphia for Mr. Ford thinks it wise for me to play London for all it is worth - and I must keep all my things here - excepting the work for the Art Club &c. The Fords are kind - so thoughtful that it is a rare occurrence to meet with such friendship outside of your own family
