work it will astonish Londoners for its simplicity and honesty of vision and if I'm thrown I shall really feel that the Academy have made a mistake. 

You see we outsiders have to wait for a hanging committee to place its friends, themselves and the Royalty. But I have gone so far without asking a favor and while I might simply walk over to Sargent's and ask for some special attention, I am going to trust only to my painting to do the work. Then if I cannot get in as a man should next year I shall crawl to them on all fours etc.

I am naturally most happy and hopeful today.
