Dear mother 
NO letter from you this last week. Rec'd a letter from Baldwin of New York. Wm. A Coffin N.A. called Saturday I was at Fords painting. But he said he wished very much to meet me on Sunday. I called at his hotel. You of course know him he is the noted landscape painter. He wished to know what I had to send. I mentioned all. He said that he should like to see the portrait of Miss Ford. I ordered a cab and drove him through the parks to the Fords. Coffin was delighted with he work and insisted that I should complete it and forward free of charge to Buffalo. Ford was as pleased as a school boy at this for he was born in that city. The work so far is solid and so professional and good that you would not know it. I am happy for Ford told me today (Monday) that in his cable to the States he mentioned me in the notice of works from London. And five other artists also as follows Sargent Abbey Shannon Boughton Loring and Kolsheoven - we are the cream. It was cabled to the Press and you probably will see it. Coffin told me not to touch the background and that if it was impossible to finish it before the March 8th why I could send any work from the States I liked. He seems to think that I am somebody. I hope he doesn't wake up. He presumed I should
