New Haven I purchased a three shilling lunch. It was money thrown away. It took us [[strikethrough]] th [[/strikethrough]] ten hours to go to Paris. Arrived here at ten oclock at night. I expected to see the streets full of crazy wicked people, but they were empty. Driving in a cab to this hotel I passed the opera saw much wonderful statuary, beautiful buildings, and a few men wearing capes. Students dress. I have a great feeling of happiness inside. My life seems full. (even after the Channel experience.) Mother I know that Paris will receive my love, it is a painters paradise. May you enjoy your birthday, and kiss yourself for me on the morning of April 1st. Write often, Love to all.
Yours, William. Off For the Louvre.
