milatary [[military]] band was playing - the garden seemed more beautiful with music. I sat on a bank over looking the great fountain with is [[its]] circular garden its variety of flowers glowing in the sun against the green background, beyond the band playing. Every thing was so perfect so beautiful that it seemed like a dream. I thanked the Lord for his greatness in bestowing such wisdom on his gardeners, architects, and artists that to produce at once so many ravishing sensations  It seemed, all arranged by a greater power than mans. It was by [[strikethrough]] th [[/strikethrough]] far the happiest moment of my life. Naturally I wished you might have been there, often I long to have you with me to enjoy such things. And strangely enough I was alone then, for Robert stood next to the players in the crowd in order to prove that his German bands [[strikethrough]] were [[/strikethrough]] are superior. 

Rob went to London yesterday. I can tell you it made me feel badly to have him go, for when he returns it will be but for a day, and then I shall again be [[strikethrough]] to [[/strikethrough]] cut off. Send Bess and Helen over and you take Father into the Vendome and live. Please think this matter over. 

I could paint the girls' portraits and that would furnish me with models free of charge. We could flood the Salon with Helens and Bessies. What a thought.
 
I have been having a fellow student pose for me. He is an officer in the army, he posed in his costume. It is artistic. 

I am working hard now to finish Homers picture. Rob thinks I might exhibit advantageously here
