My work in the school is progressing - In a way it was well that I was compelled to give up my studio   For I have painted, experimented and discovered many interesting notes ideas &c on various methods. The school I am now in is undoubtedly the first place for an artist to study in. The instructors take pleasure in devoting much time to one, and naturally I am picking up much in regards to the final details -  My work last week passes way beyond any thing I have turned out. They were finished. One subject was that of a man (half length nude) and the other of a fat red faced laughing Italian.

Well I am glad to feel earth, and to see prospects ahead. The professor told me frankly that I was very nearly in the class with the arrived - and that my work of last week was strong refined and charming. 

It made only one fellow angry and he is a Scotch friend who is really much like me, in a manner of work, &c.
