Dear Mother, 

Your letter of Monday Nov 2d received at my studio.  I am settling in my new quarters and feeling happy for I hope for great things in the future.  It would seem as tho' if I worked wisely things would turn out fairly well.  Anyway I am most hopeful and making plans for lots of work.  I am trying to make friends on all sides.  I spent last evening at Mr. Beckner's a man I was introduced to at the Langham Club.  He knows Sir James Linton the artist very well and I shall meet him eventually.
