After purchasing our postal-cards for the family and friends, we strolled away and into the Palace. It seemed to me rather sad to see those great rooms, stripped of furniture and all, save guards and curious visitors. The chill in the great building soon drove us out into the open air where the summer heat was a great contrast.
There we wandered about the beautiful park until it was time for us to return to Paris, which we did by electric train. We had a happy day the only draw-back being that you were not with us.
 
We are so busy packing for our Swiss trip that I must cut this letter short. We go to-morrow at 8.45 a.m. to Lucerne to vegetate for a week - then probably to Milan-Venice & back. This will cost each of us under 50 dollars & we all want to see something none of the trio has seen before. Oh, how we should
