My dear Mother and Father,-
 
Will, Bessie and I started out of one of the big stations in Paris at 8.40 A.M. yesterday. We were not quite sure whether the train would leave without us or not, as our artist forgot his overcoat and had to return to the studio, but fortunately nothing ever is on time in France.
 
So when the great express started for Switzerland twenty minutes late, we were comfortably settled in a second class carriage. It was a constant pleasure to gaze out of the windows at the green meadows covered with bright yellow buttercups,
