the lake with the full sweep of mountains beyond. The food is very fine, better even than the Hotel de Calais. A dinner menu for instance consists of soup, broiled salmon (from the Rhine) roast-beef and vegetables, asparagus, partridge, ice-cream, fruit, nuts & cakes. Can't you see us getting fat? And for this we pay each eight francs a day. I hope you do not think it too high. 
 
The Lake here is over twenty three miles long, full of numberless windings. True to our bringing-up we have spent many hours in a sail-boat or row-boat exploring the little bays and inlets.
