for a round trip to Fluellen, which is a six hours sail. The day was lovely and warm, and the boat wound in and out among the wonderful snow capped mountains. Bessie had the camera, and used it every few minutes, while Will bubbled over with enthusiasm.
The colors of the lake were first purple then a mixture of brown and blue, and we were hemmed in by huge mountain piles.

On our arrival at Fluellen we started on our six mile walk along the Achsenstrasse, a street cut through the solid cliffs by the mountain side. Before long Will discovered that he was too hungry to exercise any more, so we climbed up a hill and opened the lunch box consisting of tongue sandwiches, bread spread with honey, boiled eggs and oranges.

After an hours rest, we continued on our way, and bought a postal in the cliff tunnel which we sent to you, and mailed on the spot.

It was a memorable day and when we reached the hotel at six o'clock with sunburned faces, and feeling a little weary from our tramp, we all agreed that it had been the greatest day of our lives

This has been our first cloudy day, since we came to Lucerne a week ago, so we have not ventured out of the town. I went with Bessie to a hair dresser's, and that took up part of the morning. The little sister is losing her hair by the comb full, but I suppose that is the usual affect of scarlet fever, and she must have patience

This afternoon, Will took a nap, while Bessie and I went on a shopping expedition.
