My dear Mother:
Here I am within [[?]] House of Berlin again. I saw Strasburg [[Strasbourg]] Thursday morning reached Heidlelberg [[Heidelberg]] Thursday [[strikethrough]] night [[/ strikethrough]] afternoon, went to Frankfort Friday morning, came down the Rhine, taking a look on my way at the Mainz Cathedral, Saturday to Cologne. I had thought to stop off and go thru the [[Sebangebirge?]] [[Siebengebirge]] but the day was a little misty to get a view from the mountains, & I feared it might continue so today. Thought it better to be in the city where I could see much in rainy weather, than to sail in a summer hotel town. May go back an hour by rail for the walk, or may not later if at all.

Liked the Strausburg [[Strasbourg]] cathedral much & also Heidlelberg [[Heidelberg]], tho I doubt if I should like to be shut into the latter for a whole university term. Would prefer Bonn which has a fine location at the beginning of one end of the much interesting part of the Rhine. Frankfort [[Frankfurt]] is a fine city with nice old houses.
