Dear Folks:

My mother is definitely better. The paralysis of her left side has passed off. She can stand on that leg, and she has quieted down so she needs no strap and not much drugs. Her mind is fairly clear too.

Now what are you going to do about coming up? Hadn't you better wait? I can get along here - have about $75 all told, enough to pay 2 weeks' Hospital bills and rent of $24 coming by the first. Please let me know.

The carbon copy of my paper, if you need it, is in the small cabinet by my table in a big manila envelope, key hung beneath the table. But you probably have my typed copy with the gallery proof. Or might be just as easy if you ran over it yourself. I don't think there is much risk in not correcting it myself. Hope that the plate came out well.

Mrs. B is due back the 4th. We could put off the dinner at Charley's!
