Dear Sid: We got your 2 letters mailed Thursday, Sat. A.M. I hope mine to you are coming a bit faster now. I think most of the delay is between N.Y. and here, and those coming fastest get dumped off at Boston - purely speculation. I shall take your instructions along with me and we shall be sure to get in touch with each other soon after arriving.

Today, Sunday, Doris has gotten right down to packing and has made her list as she packed. I think that she has her thing pretty well in hand, tho' she won't let me make a suggestion or accept one bit of advice on anything, so you can imagine how difficult it is to get things done at all, but I am doing my best. I shall be glad when you have a bit of responsibility of her. I am giving my mother $140 in cash, and will bank about $50 and bring the rest along with me. I want some to have left on our return so to get us from N.Y. to Boston. We have made little nylon bags for our passports to wear, and I shall put mine in safe keeping in the boat's security place

Barbara went home yesterday afternoon. She was quite helpful in [cutting] down the mulberry tree and helping drag it and others to the woodpile. We have finished the moving.

This afternoon Wm Tilden who lives in the Toomey home has been over. He is an old-timer distantly related and about as Wm Capen in his interest in old genealogy, etc. In fact Wm Capen gave him some pictures. He came in his best bib & tucker + we were in our oldest clothes with Doris' suitcase stuff all over the floor. But we brought him in and sat him down - literally to the supper table where he had a cup of tea and piece of cake as we ate, and he talked over Aunt Matilda, etc, with Ma and seemed to enjoy the time very much!

We have been over to see Maud, who seems to be brighter now, and will run over for a minute Monday. It is pretty chilly here the past 2 nights, and we find sleeping on the porch except under heavy bedding a little cool. I may send you a letter if I have time in N.Y. before sailing. Everything will be all right, so don't worry about us. See you in about 10 days.

Love
Doris

The writer's I's are more circular than most and "have" looks very much like "han"
