Dear Sid:

Doris took the sugar coupons down yesterday and asked them to give her what she was entitled to, and she staggered out with 30 lbs. We can take as much as you want home. It would last us all winter, and is the simplest way, I think. I think it must be the canning allotment, she got.

It is a nice clear cool weekend here, and I hope you are having similar weather. Doris got up in the middle of the night to put on more blankets, and we are all wearing sweaters today.

Beatrice Monk called me up yesterday to say that she had been unable to get hold of Ruth Pennyman and so there would be no lunch in town.
