anything, will work out in time.

Doris and I cut more grass and then piling it all under the pear tree, she shook the tree until they all came off, - a bushel of them, we lugged home. This afternoon we started painting the front porch,- Doris got a qt of white paint from Rob Swan. We didn't have quite enough so she rushed down & got the last qt he had. We shall finish it tomorrow if it doesn't rain (paper says rain tho). The grass is more than half cut now on the south side. I have wrapped the little trees about the base with about 6 inches tarred paper & put a bit of napthalene inside to discourage the field mice. They won't be active till winter probably.

Sorry about the fish. (But Miss Carpenter would look after them - if not there, I guess Sophy might take them again.

Only a week more and you will be home. Are the tomatoes ripening up for you?

Doris.
