We had a downpour with some lightning about 10 o'clock last night, at the moment the Italian fiesta started its fireworks, and from the noise and resulting sky rockets, I should think they set them all off at once. It waked even my mother who reported heavy thunder at breakfast.

Doris is going to church this morning, in lack of any other excitement, to hear the Rev. Mikhell (black) preach. Mabel is off on a beach trip somewhere. Doris & I have been doing German so we have only 4 more lessons to go over. She is finishing her sweater today too.

Have you tried to get any camera rolls? I wish you would put a teaspoon of vigoro (in the grain garbage pail I think) about each tomato plant, stirring it into the soil a little, but not so as to disturb the roots. The younger plants may need an extra stake. I hope the old ones are not outgrown and gone past.

It seems so heavenly without the old grump about. I get up at 6 or 6 30 or anytime and I eat what I want to and as fast as I want to, and we have no quarrels.
