Accessions.

Accessions numbered 15224 and 15474, from Dr. W. H. Jones, U.S.N., received by the Museum in December 1884, were turned over to this department early in January and have been properly cared for. An account of them has already been given in the annual report for 1884.

Accession 15565, from Mr. Henry Hemphill, was received on January 7. It consisted of three barrels and one tank box of specimens from Key West, Florida, all in good condition. The barrels were filled mainly with dried specimens of Gorgonian and Actinian corals, Nallipores and Mollusks. The last mentioned were turned over to Mr. Dall. One of the barrels also contained a number of bottles of small alcoholic specimens, and the tanks were filled with larger specimens of the same nature. The alcoholics consisted of Starfishes, Sea urchins, Holothuriane, Ophiurane, Crabs, and Shrimps. This collection forms a very valuable addition to the department and contains many duplicates, which can soon be made available for exchange.
