Four half unit table cases with square tops were transferred to this department in December, and have been fitted with trays during the past month. It is proposed to transfer to these trays, as many as possible of the collections now stored in the old table cases in the bird hall, which latter are unsafe for the storage of delicate specimens which may be injured by the attacks of moths and mice.  The glass has not yet been fitted to the tops of these cases, but as soon is that is done, they can be prepared for exhibition.

A friction line, sent from Capt. Tanner of the Steamer Albatross at Key West, has been supplied to the Tanner sounding machine in the collection of deep sea sounding apparatus.

Such time as could be spared at intervals from the general work, has been devoted by the curator to identifying the specimens of Echini in the collection. The Museum collection of Echini is now of great value, and contains interesting material from
