all parts of the world. The deep sea species turned in by the Fish Commission are of greatest importance. The work of classifying this collection is now nearly completed, but a few doubtful specimens remain, which should be taken to Cambridge, Mass., for comparison with types contained in the Museum of Comparative Zoology. The curator has also been obliged to devote much time exclusively to Fish Commission matters, which has greatly interfered with the work at the Museum.

Mr. Baldwin has given much time to identifying the layer Crustacea recently sent in from Florida and the Gulf of Mexico.

Recommendations.
