Routine Work.

The routine work for March has consisted mainly in caring for the collections received during that and the few previous months, including the sorting and cataloguing of specimens. In connection with the study of the Echini and corals, carried on by the curator, all the specimens handled have been placed in good condition, and catalogued, when not already entered in the record books. At the same time many duplicates were picked out and arranged separately. The gorgonian corals have all been gone over, and catalogued, and are now in convenient places for reference, and the same is true of some of the corals of the Palmer and Hemphill collections from Florida. The dried sponges have also been properly cared for and catalogued, and are mostly stored in unit trays.
