The series of cases with glass doors in the west basement hall, formerly occupied by the bird skeletons, has been filled with alcoholic specimens belonging to this department.

The records of the department have been largely added to, and copies made of such reports, referred to the curator, as were needed for future reference.

Some time was spent in correcting the proof sheets of the Annual Report for 1883.

Official duties at the Fish Commission office kept the curator from his work at the Museum during several days.

The homoeopathic vials of Mollusks stored in our cases have been turned over to Mr. Dall.

The pottery stored in the West Hall was all removed to the New Museum
