Researches.

The curator has continued his work upon the Echini, making many identifications, and preparing a catalogue of the general collection for publication. The identification of the Echini collected by the steamer Albatross, in the Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean Sea, from Jan. to May, 1884, was completed in February, and the report upon the collection was submitted for publication in the Proceedings of the Museum, early in this month.
 
A portion of the corals, including most of the Gorgonians, collected in Florida during 1884, by Dr. Edward Palmer and Mr. Henry Hemphill have been determined.

The work of identifying the specimens of Pentacrinus collected in the Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean Sea, by the steamer Albatross in 1884, has been begun and will be continued during April.
