species of this collection have been nearly all identified, and the remainder of the species sorted out, preparatory to making the identifications. A report upon them will soon be prepared. The Echini of the Forrer and Stearns collections, mentioned under the accessions, were also determined and catalogued.

The Hon. Theo. Lyman has continued at intervals his work of identifying the Ophiurans of the Albatross collections, in the Gulf of Mexico.

Prof. Walter Faxon, of Harvard College, who was in the city the first of the month, identified a number of species of crayfishes received since his work on the Museum collection was finished about a year ago. A few doubtful species were also sent to him at Cambridge.
