Catalogue numbers are being attached to all the specimens of Echini, to insure their identity in case of their becoming separated from the labels. This work will be finished early in June.
 
Many specimens of undetermined Echini have been selected out and prepared for packing for the purpose of taking them to Cambridge this summer to compare them with the collections there.

Estimates of the supplies required by this department for the coming fiscal year, and requisitions for the summer supplies of this department in connection with the Fish Commission work at Wood's Holl, were made out during the month.

The alcohol on nearly all the alcoholic specimens in the department has been changed during the month, redistilled alcohol being used for this purpose.

Mr. A. H. Baldwin and Miss M. J. Rathbun were in constant attendance during the month.
