Researches.

The Curator has during the month, finished the identification of the species of Echini collected in the Gulf of Mexico this year, by the steamer Albatross, excepting a few species which it is impossible to determine without reference to the collection at Cambridge, Mass. These specimens will be taken to Wood's Holl, Mass., and if an opportunity offers during the summer the Curator will take them to Cambridge. A report upon the collection has been partly prepared, and will be completed as soon as the final identifications are made.

He has also continued work upon the general collection of Echini which is now fully identified excepting as to a few doubtful species which will also be taken to Cambridge this summer for comparison.

The Hon. Theodore Lyman has made considerable progress on the collection of Echini made in the Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean sea during the past two years by the steamer
