SUBJECT: Justification for Laboratory and Office Space on the Upper Campus

In discussions with you and Don Anderson approximately two years ago, CalSpace developed a five year plan detailing space requirements relating to upper campus space research and education programs (five year plan attached). The provision for space in the Chemistry Research Building last year has proven to be extremely valuable and successful. The Scientific Visualization and Multimedia Curriculum Lab on third floor of CRB has now become a central Departments of AMES, ECE, and CSE, CASS, Teacher Education Program. It has also become a facility where an effective interface can be made with the San Diego education and training community. The additional space projected in the five year plan is urgently needed if we are to continue to serve the upper campus faculty and students involved. The following will list the projects and upper campus personnel served by this space:
