See you there !!! -Hilary Present: Dr. Ride Dr. Souveney Paul Bixler Paige Elliot Hilary Haugen Ron Reese Jeff Simons Nathan Tobias Jacob Yates WWW page. We discussed having thumnail image/icons so schools aren't waiting for images. Think smaller band width. There was also discussion about changing the background. Paul Bixler. Paul Bixler discussed the curriculum aspect, esp. regarding the water module. He is looking at glaciers and ice bergs. Where they are. How they differ from lat. How fast they melt... There is a conf. at JPL 5/19 - 5/21. Paul discussed how the curriculum is aimed at preparing the students for launch. There are three modules: the Intro module, the Mission Ops, and the Water Module. The teachers are teamed up with expert scientists. All curr. is student-centered. Questions arose about the software needed, the SMOC design, testing the set-up (esp. students over the summer), and the school-to-career aspect of the project. Software Discussion about implementing tracking sw on the web. Mention of displaying the earth, linking real-time weather and orbital tracking, and zooming in on images are def. requirements. To examine Noah software. Students at SMOC will have detailed job descriptions and duties (ex. on student in charge of weather, another in charge of imagges). DEMO: Went to the comp. lab.
