During the Flight

It will be important for your student weather team to follow the weather around the world. They should keep the students selecting targets up-to-date on weather conditions; you might also have them re-check the weather over each selected site before that request is submitted. The students at the weather station should be able to:

• find all relevant satellite images,

• determine when those images were take (i.e. how old they are!),

• find regional forecasts,

communicate what they find.

Note: you may want to have the weather team periodically sketch the weather (areas of clouds) on a plastic overlay that can be laid over a world map, or on print-outs of world maps that can be posted above the weather station for all to see.

You might also want to have them give periodic weather updates to the SMOC.
