Image Validation

If your students have successfully taken a photograph, it is their responsibility to "validate" it. That is, it is up to them to make sure that the information associated with that image is correct, and to add additional, identifying information.

Image validation involves a reasonable amount of work; we recommend that it be carried out by small groups of students.

The information that is required appears on the Image Validation Submission form. We ask that you fill in important information such as the name of your school, and the teacher, and also as much of the information specific on the form as possible. We also ask that you provide the geographic location of the image (Country, and State if applicable) and give the description of the image that states clearly the who, what, where, when and why of the photograph.

Finally, we ask that you identify the features that you can see in the image: roads, airports, rivers, lakes, deserts, etc. This will make it possible for us to include a "feature search" that will eventually allow students to search through pictures by feature (i.e. to look for all pictures with rivers, or all pictures with volcanoes).

After you have completed the form you may submit the information by clicking on the "SEND IN your information" button. Below is an example of the Image Validation form. We are in the process of clarifying the form slightly, and creating an on-line tutorial documenting the steps involved in completing the Image Validation Submission form.
