Commands to Shuttle - For each orbit, your students select locations on earth that they would like the camera to photograph. These locations must be under the shuttle's orbital track.

1. The SMOCs use the KidSat web pages to calculate, and send the details for each picture to the KidSat Mission Control Gateway at UCSD.

2. UCSD consolidates the requests from all the SMOCs, checks them for accuracy, and sends them as a "camera control file" by Internet to Mission Control Center at NASA's Johnson Space Center.

3. The Mission Control Center relays this camera control file over a radio link to the space shuttle.
