Student Worksheet 5.1

Create a Tennis Ball Globe

1. Carefully cut out the map of the world.

2. Wrap the cut-out map around the tennis ball so that the equator goes around the middle
of the ball.

3. Tape the map together at the equator.

4. Next put a piece of the two-sided scotch tape or a folded over piece of tape at each of the
poles (top and bottom of the ball).

5. Bring the points together at each of the poles by pressing them onto the tape.

6. Once all the points are together at each pole, put a piece of tape on top of the poles to
hold them in place.

You now have a spherical map of the Earth on your tennis - a tennis ball globe!
