Impact of Man on Earth
They will work in small teams, with each team choosing a different topic related to human impact on the Earth. They will do preliminary research, including selecting previously taken images of areas of the world where their changes are taking place. Using the images, they will focus on not only the original environmental and geographical change, but also any unintended changes that result. (This kind of secondary change has real importance in their area.) They will write papers on their findings, as well as do some form of presentation.

Water Quality on Worldwide Shorelines.
Using data on and images of shorelines worldwide, they will analyze how population and/or industrialization affects water quality both visually and in terms of its actual composition. To do this, they will compile the EarthKAM images of worldwide shorelines. Students teams will then attempt to classify the images as from populated, isolated, and industrialized areas. They will then conduct a comparison of Earth based and Space images and investigate the water quality in terms of content such as pollutants.
