Ed. For the past several years, I've been actively involved in efforts to encourage + motivate [[strikethrough]] yo [[/strikethrough]] students (particularly girls) to study sci + math. [new paragraph symbol] Kids have a natural curiosity - that means they're natural scientists. Scientists are constantly asking -+ trying to answer-questions about us, our planet, + the stars. Students as early as elementary school are asking these Q too. Eco adventures encourage this curiosity, and the Scouts aim is to nurture it [[strikethrough]] thru [[/strikethrough]] from elem. -> H.S. --- [[strikethrough]]I believe, by the way, that [[strikethrough]] It's important to [[strikethrough]] stimulate [[/strikethrough]] acquire an appreciation for sci[[strikethrough]](for?)all students [[/strikethrough]] that's true not just for those of you who may go on to become Geophys., or cosmochem or Rocket Scientists. Sci + Tech have become so much a part of our daily lives, that some level of sci literacy is becoming important for everyone. You can't open a newspaper w/out reading about global warming, this toxic waste dump down the rd., [[crossed out]]or[[/crossed out]] the next gen. internet + it's implications for your privacy.
