Ironic: our soc., that relies so much on sci/tech - + got to be world leader thru ability to innov., eng., + explore - now puts so little value on sci or emphasis on sci ed.

our schools + comm are dev. workforce that will fuel econ. in future => it's critical to provide that workforce (today's students) the sci/math/tech knowledge + skill they'll need to compete globally

1. Inspire + ed next gen of RKT sci, env. eng., + innovators 
2. To prepare core of future workforce => basic, living wage jobs [[increase]] req stem skills

3. More broadly => critical to create scientifically literate citizens. Issues we deal w/, + are surrounded by, [[increasingly]] have their roots in sci/tech
