My dear Grace,   Painting apples

Yesterday morning after you left us Lucius and I walked down to the Seine and had a look at the rising flood, and then took a Buss? for the Gare Montparnasse. I left Lucius and went to my studio and worked. All day I felt blue and lonely and thought of you and wondered how you were enjoying your trip to Cherbourg. Have not had a card from you as yet; perhaps you could not mail one.

Last night to cheer myself up I walked down to the river with Russell we walked up the west bank as far as the Pont Neuf crossed it and went down on the other side as far as you and I did the day before.
