My dear Grace,
Am feeling rather blue tonight and wish that I could be with you. Have had a little rheumatism today, you know it always makes me feel impatient. Your letter with the draft came on Sat, had been waiting almost two week for one from you and from my mother. Your letter is beautiful, it made me tremble and yearn for you and created a desire in me that was almost pain. If it would be convenient I would have left here when I got your letter and would do so now we would go to Benington Vt. to the top of Black Bear mountain and embrace under the pines in the snow. Your cheeks would be rosy from the climb, and your lips would feel cool to mine; my hand would be a pillow for your head, pressed between the softness of your hair and the snow.
