Paris May 10th 1910

Dear Grace,
You are so good in writing to me that I owe you about three letters.

Yesterday morning when I got back at eleven oclock from a walk clear around the fortifications I found your letter saying that you were going to Woodstock waiting for me. I was tired when we got back so it was especially nice to have a letter from you to read before going to sleep.

The walk which Roland Moser and I took originated with the desire of wanting to see the comet. We left the studio about twelve on Sat night and walked to the Forte d'Orleans from where we walked to the eastern side of the city and from where we saw the comet rise like a large red star thru the heavier atmosphere. I doubted at first that it was the comet as there was no tail visible, but I have found out since that it was in perspective to us there. I hope that the morning of the 18th will be clear as I understand that when the comet crosses the sun it will be worth seeing.
