I started the first part of this letter to you this morning but could not finish it as I was interrupted by Mr. Westerveld coming to take Walter and I on a walk. We went to a quarry up on the hillside in back of the house, The view from there is quite good but not as fine as that from the California quarry at Woodstock. We amused ourselves by rolling stones down hill into a pool of water, I feel sore in spots from the exercise I got doing it. Thought we might find a rattler but did not get a chance to use the fine forked sticks we cut in preparation. The only thing we did find was a dead copperhead killed by someone ; It measured about two feet and had a diamond back.

Am now going out to work on a sketch that I started yesterday afternoon.

Goodby my girl I embrace and kiss you with my best love.

Andrew Masburg.
