Dear boy, 
Your letter of the 2nd arrived this morning, it does seem to have taken a little longer than usual to get here, but now I remember that I did not call for mail last night as I was watching a big fire with Mr. Lewis on W. 27 St. Nearly a whole block was afire, sorry you could not see it as it was an impressing spectacle.

It made me feel very sorry that you are having rheumatism again and are so depressed that you cannot work. Will do my best to get to Woodstock by the beginning of next week. Bought some supplies today a roll of canvas ets. Am expecting to start tomorrow morning for Wurtsboro. Oct. 5th Wed.

Went down to the alley this A.M but did not see [[Fraser?]] as he is work up at Rye. for the day. Thrasher was there and
