Monday morn

Dear old girl-

Both yesterday & the day before I put off writing your letter till after dinner & both times was prevented by the unexpected-

But then I shall explain all that in detail when I get back to you & that other girl of mine-

I shall however say a word about yesterday - it was so full of what to me one can only find in Paris- At ten I called on [[Bourdille?]] but he being out of town I went to Notre Dame -  The central doorway and the one to the south are already completely disengaged- but not it would seem without a few casulties - For a small bakers boy with his white cap & his basket over his arm - voluntered me the information that St. Peter's head was found to be broken off & that he had assisted at the opperation of recapitation- The poor people of the
quarter that passed
