Afterwards we went to the Soc. A. were I met McBride who was very disappointed that my "wife" was not with me. & that it was not you insted of A. Solomon that had written the preface! He will stay a few days with us in the country  next summer. Then I walked around some alone saw some other rotten expositions - got very thirsty & had to walk 5 blocks to find a drug store only to get some sickish sugery water! Then I had to make a fountain in a hurry & had to walk 5 more blocks to the Plaza Hotel! The first day it amused me very much & I laughed to myself as I took it all in (had dinner alone & to bed early) but the next day I began to be horribly depressed & was just about ready to throw up everything & take the Roachambeau back. So I caled up Jack & then ran into Louise who has a room here & we all went out to lunch togeather and afterwards, spent this afternoon at Stella's & saw his new work which I liked very much- Then went to Jack's & saw all his stuff & had dinner in his pension- As you can imagine his rooms were dirty & all upside down & his pension a dirty Bohemian looking place -- it made me quite sick! He was awfully nice & offered me his best room but five minutes in the midst of such disorder would be more than I could stand- Afterwards he took me to see "Mable" & the Greenwich Village Follies.

Yesterday I saw Miss D. at her new & very hansom appartment on Central Park W. All my things having arrived all O.R. They liked the preface which Duchamp translated (he left for Paris this morning for good & will go to see you) & for which she will
