Thursday - March 8th

Dearest girl - I arrived at 53 st at 2 - but there being a misstake in my
til - they did not expect me until two hours later. So I took a taxi & found Mae as usual cleaning up the house - today being the one day in the week when she has no one to help - not even for the cooking! She is looking fine & so are the children - fine healthy and good looking. Helen is a little beauty & not half so wild as befor - Mary is very happy about going to France for a while and Mae as much said that she could if we were sure that we wanted her. Mae will write you soon about it - I think it would be fine to have her - Don't say anything about cost - I'll fix all that here- They are all glad to see me & the girls were very happy to get the [[hank's?]]

Just before leaving N.Y. I received your two letters in which you said that you had not had received as yet any word form me - My dear girl it makes me very sad to think that you suffered so - but I did send you a cable - the first thing I did on landing & I spose the man on the dock who took it just put the money in his pockit - Poor old girl - it will never happen again - because there won't be any next time!

Three days befor I was going to leave N.Y. Joy came on

[] Helen wants to send her love & she is sitting on my knee as I write - Helen []

Transcription Notes:
The margin writing crosses the centerfold and "Helen" seems to be written in a second handwriting
