Dear Storrs -

Tonight ends my first week at the above caravansary and of rambling about the surrounding country and can now come to some conclusions of how I am going to like it.

You of course know that I have had all kinds of weather the almanac contains except skating on the river. A snowstorm has aided me in making a fair judgment of the place and adding a variety the repertory of nature.

Such days as today and others though would make a barren waste paintable and the heart glad to be alive there. But here it certainly has been a joy to simply exist. There are so many things to paint and I seem to have such incompetency in expressing what I want to that after these beautiful days pass I spend the evenings almost despondent or impatiently
