I think. I would be doing something that would greatly help me in the way I feel I need  but as far as ever being a landscape painter in the sense that Jules or Alden Weir are I hardly think I can get along with out the figure. When ever one appears in the landscape I must confess I get interested at once in a way that I don't in the landscape. But this trip is certainly doing me lots of good as I shall prove in due time.   
I hope to be back in Paris May first and paint Recchia's new moustache!
He has probably seen you by this time and told you about coming down to see me the day you went. T'was a happy
