a chair! And listen- also in Toledo- a [[?]] amusing Rembrandt etching for $1.50. Of course it was from another old plate but it was much better than lots they'd want $40.00 for at home.

Now, John, look here. It seems we won't meet in Paris but you can't reach me with a letter here before we leave. But I want to keep in touch with you, so please write me [[?]] Paris - address me Henry M. Hoyt Jr. because there seems to be another Henry M. Hoyt kicking around - and let me know your address in America and how long you expect to be there - etc. Maybe you're going back for quite a while. In that case you must come and stay with us in Washington for a while next winter.
Lord, I'm sorry we won't see you. We didn't expect to stay here do long, but it's such a fascinating town we hate to leave even now when it is getting hot as [[hinges?]]
Good luck, old man and go to a baseball game for me when you get back. The White Sox are [[dispatching?]] first place with the Red Sox.
Henry M. Hoyt Jr.
P.S. Alice says that from what she's heard of you "you are a peach ands she's crazy about you"!

Transcription Notes:
