in the bowels of my art! I've also started something on my upperlip which may amuse you. It ought to be very much in evidence by that time.

I've no knowledge of Chase's class here yet and nobody knows about it. I'm wondering what it's all about. The town is now full of English water-colorists and when Chase's class comes there is going to be no HES around.

The first things here I've found are the figures which nobody paints. On market days it really is very fine and the quaint interiors I've seen are quite amusing. This afternoon I'm going to start one where a young man with a fine head is carving a Christ in wood. Its the first figure thing I seen in Europe.

Again, many thanks and a good trip.

Very Sincerely Yours,
Smith.
