Of course I am competing for the prize but so are others. No matter what the result I shall not come out badly as one of my smaller pictures is nominally sold. I say nominally - because a lady who saw it a few days ago wants it very much but at the same time thinks it might be better for me to have it in a public gallery - so she has told me to put the price at four thousand dollars and if it is not sold in Pitts - she will take it herself which is not bad - and there you will see how I hope - if it should be my luck to take a prize or make a sale - that it will be on one of the other pictures.
