James W. Alexander, Esq.,
#120 Broadway, New York City.

My dear Mr. Alexander:

I have yours of the 14th instant, and am much obliged to you for the couplet. I expect to have a good deal of amusement out of it.

You speak of having come over to Philadelphia to look at some pictures at the Academy of the Fine Arts. I suppose you refer to John Alexander's pictures, and I want to tell you how thoroughly Mrs. Huey and I enjoyed them. I think in some respects he is an artist of very unique powers. The whole exhibition is a fine one, but I have returned again and again to look at those particular pictures, and as I know that a great many others have done the same thing I think it only fair to let you know of the general impression made by them.

Very truly yours,

Samuel B Huey
